Look in $INFORMIXDIR/etc for a hidden file (like .selock or something). It will contain only one line in it. A client of mine a long time ago had that problem with version 6.00 of SE in that whe the user exited his Informix client application, the lock file was not removed. We had to upgrade eventually, but the initial workaround was to write a script for all my client applications which would call the real client and then remove the lock file. For example, we renamed the executable isql to isql.exe and created a script called isql which had the lines: isql $* # this was incase any command line args were sent rm $INFORMIXDIR/etc/.selock # replace selock with actual name of the lockfile Hope this helps.
