DB Server Alias
Posted in 2004
Hi All,
I have the following issue:
I need to connect the same instance through 2 IP addresses, i read in
this newsgroup that there is a variable in ONCONFIG file called
DBSERVERALIASES, this variable permits to set more than one
ipaddress/aliasName for the same instance after that I have to
configure also sqlhost file to add a new tcp port for the second
ipaddress that is associated to the new alias.
example:
Current ONCONFIG File:
# System Configuration
SERVERNUM 0 # Unique id corresponding to a OnLineinstance
DBSERVERNAME rmtnms02 # Name of default database server
DBSERVERALIASES # List of alternate dbservernames
DEADLOCK_TIMEOUT 60 # Max time to wait of lock indistributed env.
RESIDENT 0 # Forced residency flag (Yes = 1, No =
0)
MULTIPROCESSOR 1 # 0 for single-processor, 1 formulti-processor
NUMCPUVPS 8 # Number of user (cpu) vps
SINGLE_CPU_VP 0 # If non-zero, limit number of cpu vpsto one
NOAGE 1 # Process aging
Current configuration sqlhost file:
### START OF RMCONF CONFIG
rmtnms02 ontlitcp rmtnms02 rmtnms02_tcp
###
New configuration:
Current ONCONFIG File:
# System Configuration
SERVERNUM 0 # Unique id corresponding to a OnLineinstance
DBSERVERNAME rmtnms02 # Name of default database server
DBSERVERALIASES rmtnms02b # List of alternatedbservernames
DEADLOCK_TIMEOUT 60 # Max time to wait of lock indistributed env.
RESIDENT 0 # Forced residency flag (Yes = 1, No =
0)
MULTIPROCESSOR 1 # 0 for single-processor, 1 formulti-processor
NUMCPUVPS 8 # Number of user (cpu) vps
SINGLE_CPU_VP 0 # If non-zero, limit number of cpu vpsto one
NOAGE 1 # Process aging
Current configuration sqlhost file:
### START OF RMCONF CONFIG
rmtnms02 ontlitcp rmtnms02 rmtnms02_tcp
rmtnms02 ontlitcp rmtnms02b rmtnms02b_port
###
I have already configured /etc/services for new tcp port
(rmtnms02b_port).
Is it the correct way to obtain two ipaddres to listen to two
different port on
the same instance?
Thanks in advance,
Abanero.
