Hi, How could i know that how much space any table takes in a physical file (size of table in terms of bytes/KB). Can i store a single table in multiple DBSpaces ? How ? And how can i know which rows are in which DBSspace. Regards

See the tables sysmaster:sysptnhdr or sysmaster:sysactptnhdr (depending on version - see!) which you can locate using the table's partnum (or the fragments' partnums - see the next answer). > > > Can i store a single table in multiple DBSpaces ? You can fragment a table across as many dbspaces as you want by adding a fragmentation expression clause to the create table statement or by altering the fragmentation (default storage is simple a single fragment for all intents and purposes). There is no good way to know in general which fragment a particular row is stored in. In general, that is. If you fragment ROUND ROBIN, then there is no way to know since the engine just alternates inserts to the fragments of a table round robin. However, if the fragmentation is BY EXPRESSION then you will know by comparing the row's values to the fragmentation expression, just as the engine does at insert and update time, which fragment contains or will contain a given row. See the CREATE TABLE and ALTER FRAGMENT statements in the Guide to SQL Syntax and Guide to SQL Reference manuals. > > > Regards > > > > ******************************************************************************* > Forum Note: Use "Reply" to post a response in the discussion forum. > > --001636c5b0d4982a70046e4677ff
