>Has anyone attended an Informix User Conference? I am thinking about >going, but would like some opinions before I ask my boss to shell out the >bucks. If you have attended a conference in the past, what did you think >of it? Here is a list of the benefits that I obtained from going last year. - Tutorials (before the regular conference; these are very instructive and would cost hundreds of dollars if taken at other times in the year) - Track sessions (These are half day seminars, full of information that can be chosen based on individual needs. Once again these types of seminars can cost $500 or more.) - General sessions (These are 'future topics' or 'trends and issues'. much like a live magazine article. - Analyst Panels (Views and opinions from 'experts in their field' are invaluable). - Exhibits (This is an opportunity to sift through over 50 vendors, instead of having vendors come on sight for 2 or 3 hours, just to decide that they're not for us.) - Birds of the feather (exchange information and ideas with other informix users in an informal setting). If you were to add up the costs of vendor visits, seminars, lectures, tutorials and all, they would exceed the cost of attending this conference. Also... Breakfast and lunch are include, so are one or two dinners. They throw a great party! Free T-shirts,pens, sunglasess... from exibitors! I got this great shoulder-bag/breifcase thing that says "Informix World Wide User Conference" on it. Oracle bash to your hearts content! -- uunet!kmart!jregep
