We are planning to use HDR feature in Informix 7.24UC5 as a full system disaster recovery solution. The source and target systems for the replication are located on two physical locations which are about 100 kilometers apart. These two systems will be linked on a proposed 64Kb leased data line. My understanding on the Informix HDR feature is that Transaction logs are sent from the source to the target system to make the DB staying in sync. Based on my monitoring on the number of logs produced each day, I could see there were about 500 Mbytes of logs data produced at the Source system. So this means there will be about this much more data flowing thru our network everyday. I would like to ensure the HDR solution we are about to introduce will not bring our network to its knees. I would like to hear from the experinced users of HDR on the following aspects: 1) How reliable is the HDR solution in 7.24UC5? If you are using HDR what version of Informix and on what UNIX platform you are using? 2) What are the gotcha or avoidance you have to use HDR for any problem you have encountered? 3)What are the network layout you have implemented to dedicate network bandwidth for the repliacte data so that it is not affecting the overall network performance. 4) If you are replicating between two systems on the Wide-area-network (WAN), what are the reasonable line speed to have so that the two DBs do not get out sync with a big gap. I would appreciate all valuable inputs. Thanks Tim Lim -----------== Posted via Deja News, The Discussion Network ==---------- http://www.dejanews.com/ Search, Read, Discuss, or Start Your Own
