Re: Which Unix DBMS?

I feel it is important to choose a software application if you can. This will lead you to the DBMS. What are your needs? Why do you need a DBMS and what will you use it for? What are your transaction processing requirements? How big will the database be? my opinion: progress wins on cost imformix wins on scalability, mirroring, parallel query etc unify is good for speed and modification tools (good C libs) sybase is good for cost as long as you don't have too many transactions. oracle is bad on cost and it is hard to modify the applications -- Hal Cooper MIS Manager Paper Products Marketing hal@ppm.com "It's better to fall down trying. hal@teleport.com than to stay home watching Jeapordy"
