RE: backup takes too long

Hello Scott, To answer your question, the tape size is set at 1900000 because that is how service set it up last year when we got the system. What do you suggest? With your suggestion then, what would be the difference compared to what it is now? We use 4mm tapes. I would say we are about a week or two away from going to 9 tapes per level-0 archive. Each tape is an hour and a half long. :-( ... with 'me' being the automatic changer. Eve ---------------------------------------------------- Scott >> Just for fun, why is your tape size only set to 1900000? On those 8G tape drives, the native capacity is around 4G, so you would only be using 4 tapes. This might save a little time in swapping tapes, depending on how long they are idle between tapes. Also, this would drop you into the realm of the 8-tape DAT changers, as opposed to the 10 tape 8MM drives, although those evidently work pretty well.
