What database type are You using?
I suppose not non-logging.
In 'logging' database each SQL operation is considered
to be a single transaction, unless transaction is started
explicitly.
In ANSI database, each SQL statement starts a transaction.
I think You cab get rid of the problem if You increase
Logical log considerably.
