RE: acceptable number of extents?

M, The recommendation from Informix is no more than eight extents. I personally don't allow more than three extents. If the table is very large it can span multiple chunks, the table will then have multiple extents that can't be eliminated. If you use a fragmentation strategy the table will be listed with multiple extents. My final piece of advice on this subject, after advice from Art, is that you don't need to worry about extents on the system tables. I am new to informix and attempting to tune our configuration. Any help would be appreciated. -----== Posted via Deja News, The Leader in Internet Discussion ==----- http://www.dejanews.com/rg_mkgrp.xp Create Your Own Free Member Forum
