Question about virtual memory segments

Hi, We're running Online version 7.11 on HP/UX 9.X and have run into a problem where the engine keeps crashing since it keeps allocation virtual memory segments until all memory is used up. Is this the correct behavior or have we run into a bug? It would seem to me that the appropriate behavior here would be to disallow any more momory allocations when the well runs try but I can't see it crashing the engine as acceptable!
