It is the page number of the tablespace tablespace entry that describes the table you're interested in. It is made up of two parts: the dbspace number, which is 12 bits in size, and the page number within the tablespace tablespace, which is the other 20 bits. Now, 12 bits allows up to 4096 dbspaces, and 20 bits allows up to 1048576 pages within a tablespace tablespace. Thus, to get the dbspace number given a tablespace number, take the integer result of "tablespace_num / 1048576". As for documentation, it is in the last few chapters of the Administrator's Guide, pages 42-20 and 42-21 in my copy, under the headings "What is the Tablespace Number?" and "Tablespace Number Elements". More detailed information is available through the IDS Internals and Advanced Administration course from Informix. Mark Collins mcollins@us.dhl.com
