N E C T * NEW ERA CONVERTION TOOLS UDI Ltd, the company that has been the Italian Unify distributor from 1991 to 1994, has identified Informix New Era as the strategic tool that will achieve a leadership position on the client/server object oriented market. To relieve the companies that developed their application using Accell (either A/IDS or A/SQL) of the burden of several man-years of coding effort, UDI has take up the challenge of providing the New Era environment of specific tools that will let you easily migrate your application to the new application development platform. The NECT ( New Era Conversion Tools ) package includes : * UDI class library This class library implements some features of the ACCELL environment that have no counterpart in New Era native environment ( e.g. the AUTO_FIND attribute). * UDI C-FUNCTION library This C-code library integrates or map a few ACCELL system functions to be used in New Era environment. * ACCELL grammar parsers These tools let you process each component of an ACCELL application such as forms ( *.afq or *.fz ), scripts ( *.fs ) and reports ( *.rpt ). * NEW ERA code generator Using the output provided by parsers and implementing the MAPPING RULES schema, the code generator translates the Accell application to a native New Era application Each NECT standard module can easily be integrated to manage any particular use of the original language in order to provide for specific translation for each source program. The libraries have been implemented using the Visual C++ and the New Era language instructions, while parsers and code generators have been developed using standard C code and will be available on SCO UNIX, SUN and IBM platforms. The group that partecipate to the beta program involve 12 companies and their applications. The final release it has been delivered on July 1995 and it has been ported on SCO UNIX, SUN SOLARIS and AIX. UDI complements the offer with specific consultancy, training and development support and is looking for companies that could distribute the product providing to the customers the support needed.
