Hi,
I'm just puzzled by the no of oninit processes when on-line starts
up. It seems these oninit processes are related to the NUMAIOVPS
onconfig parameter. By default , the NUMAIOVPS is left blank, which
according to the Informix guide implies that NUMAIOVPS is 2 for single
processor CPU. When left to blank, there are more than 20 oninit
processes upon start-up. Using onstat -g iov shows that most of these
processes are aio and most of them is not doing any processing.
Strangely if I set the NUMAIOVPS to 2, only 7 oninit processes are
started up.
If I'm using all raw devices for chunks with the exception of a cooked
file for the online.log, does these reduced oninit processes have any
impact on performance? and why is the blank NUMAIOVPS and a setting of 2
does not produce the no of oninit processes (since default for blank is
2)?
