bt scanner tuning on 9.40 FC9

Topics: Performance & Tuning
Hi all,
Recently I posted an issue asking about bt scanners. It uses a lot of system
resources when I changed my version from 9.40.fc7 to 9.40.fc9
I received help about change leaf scan to range scan.
With these parameters:
onstat -C stop 1
onstat -C rangesize 100
onstat -C start 1
It already has removed excessive use of CPU, but I want to know an explanation
about this parameters to realize what I'm tuning and possible effects on my
databases.
Thanks for your help.
I've also run into several issues with the scanner and at least 2 of them
have been associated with bugs .... constant cleaning of indexes etc .....
