I've noticed that when we run ontape, ODS allocates extra shared memory =
segments. Can anyone explain why this should be? We are running ODS 7.23 =
UC6 on a 4 cpu HP K410 server (hp-ux 10.20).=20
As the backup is taken in the night when the system is quiet, the =
instance is put into quiescent mode (via omode -sy) whilst the backup =
runs. This way I know that no other activity occurrs during the backup. =
The backup takes about 2 hours to run, and the memory is allocated =
almost as soon as the backup begins.
The relevant (I think) config values are:
PHYSFILE 25000
LOGFILES 6
LOGSIZE 12500
BUFFERS 10000
SHMVIRTSIZE 65344
SHMADD 8192
The messages just around the time of the start of the archive were:
20:54:32 Checkpoint Completed: duration was 1 seconds.
21:27:32 Shutdown Mode
21:27:33 Quiescent Mode
21:27:41 Checkpoint Completed: duration was 0 seconds.
