Problems in Informix Server on AIX

Hi All, I am using two AIX server, version is 4.3. Both are attached to a common storage. The raw devices are created in the common storage and dbspaces are pointing to those devices. Every time the Primary server is started, we mount the storage device and start the informix server. As far as the primary sever is concerned, there is no issues at all. My problem is with the secondary server. The dbspace are pointing to the same raw devices created in the common storage. But when i shutdown primary server and try to bring up informix in the secondary server, oninit fails saying that "Cannot Open Primary Chunk errno = 6". I am using informix version 7.31 UC5. If anybody has gone through such a problem. Then please do sen me a reply. From /usr/include/errno.h: #define ENXIO 6 /* No such device or address */ Are the paths in the onconfig identical (ie. /opt/informix/data/rootdbs.1 on both servers)? Is the storage device "mounted" on the secondary? When you refer to primary and secondary it creates the impression that you are using HDR. However, from the rest of your message it appears that you've got machines connected to the same disks subsystem and you can fail over by shutting down machine A (primary) and starting up machine B (secondary). Hello, If by primary/secondary you mean the both servers of a hacmp cluster, there is a known trouble. The raw devices lost their ownership and access rights during the switchover. The solution resides in a shell called by hacmp which setup the ownership and access rights as needed by informix. This shell must be executed before the initailization of the instances. Vaidyanathan, 1) mail the onconfigs for both servers. 2) What do you mean by "we mount the storage device" - do you mount a file system? Is the volume group containing the disks defined and online on the secondary? Do an "lsvg -p <vgname>" on both machines, are the same disks there? Are the chunks on cooked or raw space?
