408 error

We are getting the 408 error about twice a month while running a program while doing a fetch cursor. Informix support really has no answers and suggests that we connect through tcp instead of through shared memory. We're racking our brains trying to find some pattern or reason why this happens. Does anyone have any experience solving for this error ? Does anyone have any experience solving for this error ? Floyd, Most likely it's a memory overrun somewhere in the application. One way to track it down with minimal pain is to add a stream pipe connection (onipcstr). That will tend to perform a bit better than a TCP local connection but is likely to make the offending memory overrun SEGV so you can find it. Look into memory debuggers like Purify and Insure (there's an Open Source one also but I can never remember the name) to track down the offending code. Art S. Kagel
