RE: Performance problems in SAP R/3 with informix 7.3
Posted in 1999
Well that is quite a story.
I'm of the opinion that too many people spend too much time
worrying about how long update stats or oncheck takes. Your
worries should be more along the lines of what is the
performance of the application. But that's just my personal
gripes.
Back your the problem.
Are you using dostats? If not what are you using. Creating
your own update stats scripts can have obvious pitfalls.
A very large table at 250Gb I presume would be fragmented
across many dbspaces. Is this correct ?
Is it possible to post the spec of your hardware and a copy
of your $ONCONFIG. In general posting your $ONCONFIG tends
to get you a few pointers to general performance guidelines.
A copy of onstat -p will allow us to judge the performance
of your box from an Informix point of view.
So we need
onstat -p
$INFORMIXDIR/etc/$ONCONFIGHardware spec
OS info
