Long Transaction Abort and Recovery problem with Informix Online

Hi folks, I have a problem with Informix Online. I have a database with buffered transaction logging turned on. I run an application that will select from one table and massively insert into another table on the same database. At some point, the logical logs fills up and sends the message "Logical Logs are Full -- Please back up." to the turbo.log file even with continuous logs running (to tape). The application aborts abnormally leaving the process in a Long Transaction abort (LTX) state. Since the logical logs are full and the process is in an LTX, it seems to be in some dead embrace. At this point, the database is hang. Shutting it down and bring it up brings Informix Online into a recovery mode that never recovers. I spoke with Informix tech support and they have given me only two options: 1) Restore from a previous level 0 archive or 2) they dial in to our system and patch something and gets it back online. Both these options are unacceptable to us because of the time it takes to restore our database or that the problem can occur in the early hours of the morning where reaching for an Informix tech support to patch our DB is next to impossible. If you have a similar situation and have a solution that can be of help, please reply. Ellory Yu
