DATE type field

I am getting very strange behavior today with the field that is a date type. Normally, It would allow me to enter date in the form "mm/dd/yy"but for some reason I get the message that error in the field. It accepts the date in form "dd/mm/yy". This started happenning today. Any idea what could have changed? I tried to re-compile the table, modules, reports but nothing seems to work. This happends with all my programs. Any help would be greatly apreciated. Thanks.
