The bug is that isql allocates only enough space for the tablenames and not the owner names on the tables. Therefore, any time a list of tablenames is displayed: table info, building a default form, etc.; isql typically corrupts its memory. Our experience has been that the process will continue for a time but than core dump. My understanding through tech support is that (#of_tables * (18 + 1)) chars are allocated for holding the tablenames. The shorter your tablenames and owner names the better the chances that you won't get a core dump. I would rather confidently guess that if you could keep your average tablename at 10 chars or less the problem would go away. I have been told that 4.10 of the SQL product will correct the bug. I have 4.10 of the OnLine engine but not ISQL yet. Currently, we attempt to stay away from table infos within ISQL. -- --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Ken Evilsizor Email: sdrc!cinnet!carsinfo!ken CARS Information Systems 4000 Executive Park Dr. Disclaimer: All opinions expressed are Cincinnati, OH 45241 definitely my own.
