multithread in INFORMIX, how?

HI, I have a long transaction, says LOTZ28, and several short but critical transactions. If these short txs are issued after that long one, I could wait a long time. So I need to create a multi-threaded env to let one thread take care the long tx and let other threads to take care the short ones. Could anyone give me some advice? Jack,
