Translating with DrWatson… this can take a few seconds the first time.
This is a genuine, complex translation. DrWatson protects commands, error codes, and log output while naturally translating the surrounding text. It’s translated once and saved.

Hi,
We have Informix SE and 4gl version 6.00. We have the following table
called ships. This is the simplified the schema:
shipname char(50)
...
.
gear char(30)
...
We have to change two letters in the gear field specifically the
letters "SB" to "SD". The problem is that the position of the
letters are different. These are some of the possible formats:
1. 4SB(14)
^^
2. 4G(15)-4SB(14)
^^
3. GLESS-4SB(14)
^^
4. 12VD(10)-5GC(33)-4SB(14)
^^
As you can see, the "SB" is at different positions. So is there a
way to do this using SQL? (dbaccess) Pls. post or email. Thanks!
John
