Going from SE to OnLine DSA

We're considering going from Informix SE (4.x) to On-Line DSA. Anyone have any comments about ease of conversion and any performance improvements noticed? Initially the change would be done on a single processor system, and then the system would grow up to a multiprocessor one. I've used On-Line (5.x ??) but it's been a couple of years since then. I understand the additional DBA needs with On-Line. What I would really like is real life problems/advantages.
