Re: HP vs Informix mirroring

I had the same expirience as Irwin. HPUX 10.20 INF-ONL 7.14UC? We made a mirroring with informix. And the reads has all gone to one (the first, the original disk) disk. after the explanation from Irwin its clear why!!! Therefore HP-Mirroring is much much better/faster and so on. But some additional facts for Ed.: Its not official supported (from HP) to make mirroring (RAID1) and striping (RAID0) at the same disk/disks. For me RAID5 is for a Database too slow. A customer had the wish of a) mirroring (for safety) b) striping (for performance). Therefore we mirrored the "normal" unix-disks with HP. We striped the database over three disk with HP, and we mirrored the database-disks with informix. We made very good I/O-stats. I have an over 5 years-expirience with online and massive I/O-critical application. the best ist striping!!!!!!! rainer
