Informix Licensing - multiple machines - 6.0 release

Is anyone out there having a hard time understanding the new "user based" licensing when you have multiple machines? Under the description I received, if you are using one large machine for all transactions (terminal/host configuration), you would pay one $X for a concurrent user of 6.0. If you have a user on a client accessing 2 database boxes, you would have to pay $3X for the same user. Informix seemed to think we were unique in this instance, but I find this hard to fathom. I am also curious if anyone is encountering VAR/Informix direct conflicts. There seems to be some real contention over who should sell whom licenses.
