onstat errors

Hi Art We are old dostats fans. Last version we compiled is: dostats: Features Version 6.00, Source Revision: 1.172 ! Copyright 1996-2009 by Art S. Kagel. License for private usage (including use by commercial enterprise for its own needs) is granted. Commercial and exploitation rights are reserved. We run Informix 11.70.UC5 on Solaris 10 . Since some time we see following error messages: Fri Oct 19 17:22:00 CEST 2012 Warning! Optimized servers produce statistics fastest with PSORT_DBTEMP set. Working on database: sl2000. The errors appear with every table for which dostats is done. Do have an idea of the reason? onstat version too old? Reinhard.

Reinhart: You are using the older dostats.ec and a version missing a couple of fixes. At about the time v1.172 was released I revamped the code making it simpler mostly by ripping out support for early versions of Informix prior to v10.00 including support for SE and Online. This allowed me to streamline the code and implement an updated algorithm that results in faster runs for the current versions of Informix and to finally fix a few pernicious bugs that I could never find (like the progress displays not reporting every step). IB that part of that was that the number of conditions under which dostats could not find the row counts in sysmaster were greatly reduced. While the current release of utils2_ak package still includes dostats.ec for users of older engines, the makefile now compiles the newer dostats_ng.ec (next generation for non-Trekkers) to create the dostats exectutable. Give it a try and let me know if it fixes the problem for you. There are many many enhancements in the NG release like the ability to use dostats to replace AUS and automate your runs using the 11.xx task manager. Art Art S.
