Hello,
Here is the problem...
We have an HP-K460 server running HP-UX 10.20 attached to an EMC high-speed
disk array.
Our database is around 100GB.
When we run our application with one user everything performs lightning
fast.
As more users degrade, the performance continues to degrade.
The relevant parameters from the onconfig file:
MULTIPROCESSOR 1
NUMCPUVPS 3
NETTYPE ipcshm,2,300,CPU
NETTYPE soctcp,1,100 ,NET
BUFFERS 7200PDQPRIORITY 0
OPTCOMPIND 0
We used sql explain to analyze each query and every one (we are averaging
24 queries in 30 seconds)
is using an index lookup. There are no sequential scans.
I have about 4 weeks in now, and have adjusted every parameter known to
man, (well maybe not man, but at
least Informix). Here is some onstat output that bothers me:
onstat -g rea shows consistently around 10 entries.
onstat -p shows a high number of bufwaits and lchwaits
I have added more cpuvps, changed connection types, and on and on.
Informix Tech Support has been of little help. Basically, we need to
support 200 users and a processor per
user is not an option:-)
Any help is appreciated...
Thanks,
James Francis
