Translation: We're hacking and are trying to figure out just what the
files are that make up an Informix data base.

Translation: Nobody in our company has a clue how to work with data
bases. The last guy working on the application left for
a higher paying position elsewhere.

Translation: No backup plan was ever instituted as we're in constant
chaos. Somebody lost the last backup tape and now we
gotta restore the data base. Hey could you pass me my
coffee over here while I read this...

Translation: Now where did he hide those Informix manuals? I tried
rebooting the machine several times but this didn't work.

Translation: Users are going ahead with their own versions of the
software, and making many changes to the data base. We're
on a short leash with the boss, it's only a matter of time.

Translation: Our department is the laughing stock of our customer base and
well, all we can do now is hope they don't buy somebody else's
software. We'll end up supporting something else we don't know.

Translation: We can't find the manuals and are convinced the guy who was
doing the dba work took them, and won't answer his pager. Maybe
he has a cellphone number...hmmmm maybe if I do this...

Sorry, it was irresistable...
Best of luck to you...
:-)
