USEOSTIME issue
Posted in 2007
Topics: Licensing & Editions, Platform-Specific Issues
We have the following:
IBM Informix Dynamic Server Version 10.00.FC6
HP-UX om4db1 B.11.11 U 9000/800 4126011100 unlimited-user license
We started the database with
USEOSTIME 0
When you do a date on the system it says the time is
Tue Dec 4 15:09:58 CST 2007
But if you do a
select first 1 current from systablesit returns
2007-12-04 16:09:58.000
Is there some unix setting I am missing or some informix time zone setting I'm
missing?

Try USEOSTIME 1, it's just as fast as USEOSTIME 0. Also, what does
echo $TZ tell you? Did you apply the HP DST patch (PHCO_34668)?

Might want to login as the user who owns the oninit and see what timezone is
set. I had this problem when setting a server for the UK but the machine was
located in the US. Beieve there is also an environment variable that can or
needs to be set.
To all: The $TZ was correct but.... We found that Informix V10 uses a file on HP/UX /etc/default/tz The $TZ was set to CST but the /etc/default/tz was set to EST. Informix v9.4 seemed to use the $TZ value but informix V10 uses the /etc/default/tz file file. Our unix admin changed the /etc/default/tz file and informix immediatly changed the time returned in the sql. It also changed the timestamp in the online.log file. Thanks for the responses. Stephen
