My English suxxors badly and I understood IBM's text that for Growth running as a guest the memory total of the host system is also limited to 16 GB. Maybe I am wrong, but it IS explicitely mentioned as an restriction. So my host systems typicaly have 512 or 1024 GB of memory, if not the newest, as those have 1536 GB of memory. This is still necessary until all of my customers have done their tests and retesting (because the do not believe what they see for long time) and will know, that less memory and more SSDs is the way to go if you need real speed. Try get hold of a try out version of the latest and greatest ORACLE and configure it like in the early 1990-ies: Smallish SGA/PGA setup, no RAC. Then plug in 4 decent SSDs and see if you can top this setup using a best practise setup with largish buffer pool and no SSDs. Same goes for IDS 11.50! dic_k -- Richard Kofler SOLID STATE EDV Dienstleistungen GmbH Vienna/Austria/Europe

That used to be the interpretation. Now the server may have as much memory as you wish, so long as no more than 16g is allocated between ALL Informix instances present.
