Michael Segel <Mikey@NOSPAM.Master.of.mydomain.MAPSON.Segel.com> offerred: +Can you multi-thread the applications? + +Meaning, can you create an application which allows focus +control? + +By this I mean, if you create a popup window, can you +shift focus back to the base window with the pop-up still active? I do not believe so. While there is additional functionality added specific to a gui environment (adding pulldown menus, check boxes, etc.) it is still a procedural language, and only supports the limited event-driven capability of the original 4gl product. It does, however, support it within the context of the gui window (e.g. if you use a mouse click to go into a field from any other field, the appropriate before and after field clauses get executed). Also keep in mind that it is a 3 tier architecture, with only a "presentation" layer running on the gui (or ascii) platform. The base "program logic" runs on the application server, either Unix or NT.
