The messages are printing out because the system is not configured optimally. Based on transaction load, checkpoint processing rate and I/ O, you could run into transaction blocking during checkpoint processing. Some of them can be turned off by setting AUTO_CKPTS to 0. The checkpoints occurring after adding a log file have been occurring since V10 so its been around for 8+ years.
