Replication Issue

Hello All, We are trying to setup a replication between two informix database servers and we have struck up in a issue which we are not able to solve. We would be grateful if any of you can help us in solving out. The issue is We have a two server ol_server1 and ol_server2 we are trying to synchronize the data from ol_server2 to ol_server1. The step followed were set the sqlhost configuration as ol_server2 olsoctcp server2 1025 g=g_server2 g_server2 group - - i=51 ol_server1 olsoctcp server1 turbo g=g_server1 g_server1 group - - i=52 cdr define server --init g_server1 This command was successful. But when we tried to define the other server as cdr define server --connect=ol_server2 --init --sync=g_server1 g_server2 we got the error as below connect to ol_server2 failed *Error* <-956> is not a known Enterprise Replicat ion error (-956) Can any of you can help us by explaining how to proceed and setup replication. Thanks in advance Jayaprakash
===> -956 Client client-name or user is not trusted by the database server. Create the /etc/hosts.equiv file and add the remote host on each server. Example: (as root on server1) echo "server2" >>/etc/hosts.equiv chmod 600 /etc/hosts.equiv Example: (as root on server2) echo "server1" >>/etc/hosts.equiv chmod 600 /etc/hosts.equiv ----- Original Message ----- From: "JAYAPRAKASH TV" <jayaprakashtv@hotmail.com> To: <ids@iiug.org> Sent: Wednesday, December 31, 2003 9:59 AM Subject: Replication Issue [2397] Hello All, We are trying to setup a replication between two informix database servers and we have struck up in a issue which we are not able to solve. Hi, Thanks a lot for the reponse. Sorry, we had missed out to specify the operating system on which we are trying out the replication. We are using Windows 2000. We have added the details in the hosts and hosts.equiv file under C:\\\\WINNT\\\\system32\\\\drivers\\\\etc and also placed the same files under informix\\\\etc. But still we are not able to find the success in connecting to the destination server. What else might have gone wrong? The hosts file contains the entry 167.49.137.60 server2.samyog.com With regards, Jayaprakash
Hi, Try to put first the group definitions and after the servers in the sqlhosts. Like this: g_server2 group - - i=51 ol_server2 olsoctcp server2 1025 g=g_server2 g_server1 group - - i=52 ol_server1 olsoctcp server1 turbo g=g_server1 I hope this help. Quique. I agree: you need to have the group entry first. Additionally, you would want to have your TCP connections before your shared memory connections. So the order should be: group entry, TCP entry (or entries), then shared memory entry (or entries). Another thing we found was that in version 9 the connection specified by your DBSERVERNAME onconfig parameter must be a TCP connection, not a shared memory connection. Hope this helps.
