NKK Datensysteme GmbH MaJu Dr-Gessler-Str. 37 93051 Regensburg Germany Hi! My company developed a database DOS application with C-ISAM. This year I got big trouble with the 'bcheck' utility. I hope to find some answers for following problems: A) Bcheck hangs up with no error message! If you use options '-il' the hang up occurs always at same position. There's no way of checking this file. Solution? B) This Problem is about the very expressiv bcheck message : 'index out of order.' What reasons are there for being out of order? If you answer yes to all questions, bcheck 'repairs' the index file. But there's no point in doing that because after repeating the call bcheck wants to repair the index tables again. In this case you have no possibility to get a good indexfile !? Or does bcheck lie - maybe the index is not out of order? C) Problems about large C-ISAM Files (more than 100 MB). We have lots of problems with large C-ISAM Files. We only want to know whether a file is corrupted or not. It looks like there is no other way than using bcheck program to check C-ISAM Files. Bcheck needs a lot of time in checking large files and you can't say for certain that the results will be ok. Maybe there is a restriction of the file size for using bcheck? Are there personal experiences with 1 giga C-ISAM Files? Thank you very much for your help, bye maju :>) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Appendix ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Versions: OS: MS-DOS 6.22 Netware 3.12 C-ISAM: INFORMIX 3.10.06C PRODUCT RELEASE BCHECK: C-ISAM B-tree Checker version 1.07 C-ISAM B-tree Checker version 4.10.DC.1 Compiler: MS C-Compiler Version 6.00 Linker: Blinker Dynamic Overlay Linker 2.10 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -- ____ ____ _ / | | __| | | Andreas Martin / /_| | |_|__ | | phone: ++49 941 75081 / /___| | __| | | |__ fax: ++49 941 75084 /__/ |_| |____| |____|andreasm@asl.phiger.com
