RE: The price of doing business with IBM?

This isn't a problem with what Mark said. Yes I agree that Mark is the Oracle wonk. My position is based on what is written in the .pdf on the TPC.org's website. What Mark said and what is described in the document are two different things. Just as Mark contradicts the price listed on the TPC.org's website and the price listed in the Register's article. $5800 per socket and not total for both sockets (8 cores in total). So yes, I do listen to what others say as well as look at what is been released for public consumption. My point of this thread is that the numbers published by HP/Oracle didn't jibe. As we can see, the numbers posted didn't make sense and are either wrong or misleading. Even still, thanks to Mark's input, the more accurate $11,000 is much less than the ~$70,000 for Informix. And that is the point. As a SMB customer, which would you choose? Date: Thu, 16 Apr 2009 17:32:03 +0100 Subject: Re: The price of doing business with IBM? They didn't. The benchmark does use term licensing. That's why I sent the term licensing details - 3 years is 50% of list. _______________________________________________ Informix-list mailing list Informix-list@iiug.org http://www.iiug.org/mailman/listinfo/informix-list I rest my case. And it's not just this particular benchmark. Maybe being Mark to say this Gumby will believe it. Sometimes I really feel my English is very bad... I can't get Gumby to understand nothing of what I write... And we all know his IQ is undoubtedly very high. Since the subjects are usually very simple it must be the way I express myself... But one thing I concede: This "term licensing" achieves completely its objectives. A person with a very high IQ could not understand the trick even after being told!
