You do not need anything on the UNIX box. The ODBC driver sits on top of the Informix middleware and never goes out over the wire. You install Informix MW on the NT box, configure it so that you can make a connection to the DB, then define an ODBC datasource for the connection. In your web pages (.idc or .asp) you address the ODBC Datasource name using a userid/password pair known to Informix on the UNIX machine. You will also want attempt to utilize persistent DB connections for performance but you might need to compensate for lost connections (overnight and such). Hope this helps. matteor@my-dejanews.com wrote: > > I'm a beginner about Informix SE on UNIX but I know a lot about WinNT, so the > problem: > > I have to develop an application for IIS4 on WinNT to access (Read/Write) > informations on a INFORMIX SE 5.02 installed on a NCR UNIX S.V.R.4. > > So I think the simple is to use an ODBC driver to get a connection from WinNT > to Informix but I don't know what I need on the UNIX machine to enable the > ODBC connection. > > Can someone give me more information about this?? > > Thanks in advance! > > -----== Posted via Deja News, The Leader in Internet Discussion ==----- > http://www.dejanews.com/rg_mkgrp.xp Create Your Own Free Member Forum
