Q: How to configure SHMMAX etc. on Linux

First, you must have kernel 2.0.36 and glibc 2.0.7 (as you can read that from here http://www.informix.com/informix/products/linux/idslx.html) Then you download patches (e.g. from here: ftp://ftp1.informix.com/dist/IDN/linux/redhat/ or from RedHat site). Next you must recompile kernel and then it should work. I'm using SuSE 6.0 with 2.0.36 kernel and IDS is working fine. I did not patch SuSE 2.0.36 kernel although there is a patch for SuSE too (on SuSE ftp).
