RE: Informix and ODBC
Posted in 1999
You need to run the setnet32 utility and fill in the following making this the default server: Database: The name of the database you want to connect to Server: The name of the Informix Instance Host: The physical machine name the instance is on Service: Corresponds to entry in services file (see below) Protocol: networking protocol (ie: onsoctcp on=online, soc=sockets tcp=tcp/ip) Then you need to make sure there is an entry in the c:\\winnt\\system32\\drivers\\etc\\services file mapping the service name to the port/protocol. Once this is done, you should be able to fill in the same values in the odbc config and be on your way. Hope this helps. It can also be tricky if you are trying to configure all this logged into the machine as someone other than the person who installed the I-connect. Then you will need to log back in as the original user, and make sure all permissions are set on the registry entries, and that you have run regcopy.exe.
