Re: CASE Tools for Informix ?

I assume you're lookign for a modeler that will also generate your DB for you. There are a number of options. * Silverrun creates DB modeling and business re-engineering software custom-made for Informix's product line. * LogicWorks markets ERWin/ERx, a featureful (and very expensive) DB modeler for Win95/WinNT. * Visible Corp. publishes EasyER, a very cheaper (~$700) modeling tool. I was not very impressed with the evaluation copy I used, however - very clumsy interface and buggy features. * Embarcadero makes ER/Studio, a very fast, mostly intuitive modeler for Windows that holds a middle ground in price between EasyER and ERwin. I've used this tool the most, and really like it. One nice feature is the ability to generate multiple physical diagrams from a single logical source, and effortlessly merge changes later on. All these tools use standard database modeling diagrams (i.e., either IE or IDEF1X). Some of them promise to help you manage your entire project, including your stored procedure code. Most of them can generate SQL for a vast variety of DBs (including Informix), or connect directly to your DB using ODBC. And, of course, every vendor includes their own special perks (e.g., ER/Studio comes with a nice DB-independent SQL composition and query app). There are others besides this, but these are the only ones I've given serious consideration.
