Documentation for Stored Proc's/Triggers
Posted in 1994
Hi! -> where do I find the documentation about Stored Procedures and -> Triggers that are new to Online 5.01? Triggers has it's own manual, called "Using Triggers". It's very thin ('cos there's not much to triggers, I guess :-)), but quite comprehensive. Stored Procedures are covered in the "Guide To SQL" - I think the version you need is referred to as "December 1991", but it should also be in more recent ones. By the way, stored procedures were in 5.0, and there's also a new release of 4GL (4.11) to go with 5.01. I'm not sure if there's an SQL release 4.11 yet. HERE IS A VERY USEFUL TIP FOR STORED PROCEDURES: Do not try to write stored procedures using ISQL! Some of the syntax confuses it horribly. Use DBACCESS to implement your stored procedures. I haven't got it yet, but I can only assume (hope? pray?) that 4.11 ISQL will fix this.
