ALARMPROGRAM

Hi,
my Informix is 7.22 UC1 on HP 10.20
I do not want to use /informix/etc/log_full.sh as an alarmprogram because
I have 4 informix server running on the machine. For each I have a shell
script that starts ontape -c to a file on disk. (extra file for each
server)
I want to deactivate the alarmprogram in the onconfig file.
In version 7.10 UC1 I just left it blank
ALARMPROGRAM # Alarm program pathbut in this version I get the message
Tue Mar 2 10:35:19 1999
10:35:19 Event alarms enabled. ALARMPROG = '/opt/informix/etc/log_full.sh'
10:35:20 DR: DRAUTO is 0 (Off)
10:35:20 INFORMIX-OnLine Initialized -- Shared Memory Initialized.
10:35:21 Physical Recovery Started.
10:35:21 Physical Recovery Complete: 0 Pages Restored.
10:35:21 Logical Recovery Started.
10:35:23 Logical Recovery Complete. 0 Committed, 0 Rolled Back, 0 Open, 0 Bad Locks
Then I renamed the file log_full.sh in xx.sh and I still get the same
message when I start informix with oninit.
Why???!!!!
Is this the default setting?
Must I allways set ALARMPROG /opt/informix/etc/no_log.sh and thus start a
unix process?
Why isn't it mentioned in the release notes?
Thanks in advance

I never realized that that changed. If this is true, that by default
the engine will always try to start log_full.sh, I think the best you
can do is to create a very small executable that just exits it will
start up more quickly than the shell that is started to launch
log_full.sh. The exec() system call that the engine uses to start up
the ALARMPROGRAM recognized an executable and does not launch a shell
to start it running but runs the executable a capella (accents implied).
Try something as simple as:
dumbalarm.c:
int main( void )
{
return 0;
}
