MICROSOFT'S MIKE MAPLES TO SPEAK AT INFORMIX WORLDWIDE USERS CONFERENCE Conference to Feature Exhibition Hall, Over 60 Conference Sessions, Presentations by Industry Experts MENLO PARK, Calif. (May 24, 1993) -- Informix Software, Inc. (NASDAQ:IFMX) today announced that Mike Maples, executive vice president of Microsoft's Worldwide Products Group, will speak at at the 1993 Informix Worldwide Users Conference. Maples, who oversees all Microsoft product development and product marketing activities, will discuss the future of information technology at the conference's keynote session on July 14. The conference and exhibition will be held July 13-15 at the San Jose Convention Center in San Jose, California. This year's conference entitled "Focus on Your Future," will also feature more than 60 conference sessions, seminars, tutorials and keynote speeches designed to help Informix's customers and partners prepare for the future of information management. The conference will also feature a 50,000 square foot exhibition hall that will host over 100 Informix customers, OEMs, VARS, and partners showcasing Informix-based solutions. Informix will also demonstrate its existing products and offer sneak previews of new products and technologies under development. Featured Speakers In addition to Mr. Maples, the conference will feature a roundtable discussion on the hottest issues facing today's information technology managers. Three leading industry experts: Peter Kastner, vice president, Aberdeen Group; Tony Percy, vice president, Gartner Group; and Rich Finklestein, president, Performance Computing will be the speakers in this plenary session. On the final day of the conference Phil White, Informix chairman and CEO, will talk about the future and direction of Informix's corporate and product strategies. Attendees will be able to choose from over 60 conference sessions divided into three conference tracks: Tools and Environments, Servers and Connectivity, and Applications and Management. Conference sessions, lead by Informix's top technical marketing and development personnel, consultants, and integrators, are designed to help attendees understand how to use Informix technology to build, deploy, run, and evolve their database applications. The conference program will include sessions on the newest versions of Informix's database servers: INFORMIX-OnLine and INFORMIX-SE; and Informix's new tools offerings including INFORMIX-HyperScript Tools, INFORMIX-ViewPoint, and INFORMIX-4GL for Windows. Sessions will also be offered on industry issues such as: downsizing, standards, distributed databases, imaging, developing client/server solutions and connectivity.
