Good news, I now have the informix se running on my Linux system. The install was for the most went well. The only thing I stumbled on was setting up the sqlhosts file. The 2nd parm had to be changed to sesoctcp. The 4th parm was sqlexec. I had to make an entry for this in the /etc/services file. After I got this right then sqlexecd would start just fine. I did not find any install instructions in the release directory. It would be nice if there had been some. Andy Hogben told me that I must run sqlexecd. Without this tip I would have never gotten this thing running. Thanks again Andy and the others who responded.
