RE: MSGPATH file - can size be limited?

The easiest way (assuming you are on UNIX) is to set up a cron job to run every however long you want to save the log. In your script, first copy the log to a .bak file or something and then copy /dev/null to the log file. As for how fast it grows, it all depends on how often your checkpoints and backups are and whatever other status messages Informix is giving you (there's more info in the Administrator's Guide, I'm sure). In our smallish organization, zero-ing out the log once a month keeps it from making any noticeable dent in disk space. -----Original Message----- From: Allen Wyatt [mailto:allen.wyatt@nokia.com] Sent: Thursday, January 25, 2001 1:17 PM To: informix-list@iiug.org Subject: MSGPATH file - can size be limited? Is there some configuration parameter I'm missing that allows for limiting the size of the MSGPATH file (usually .../online.log)? I'd like a way to limit it to the last X days of information. Under normal circumstances (database running without problems), how fast does this file grow?
