Roving Cub reporter find stories of SEX and Intrigue ....

NOT! Ha! Now that I got your attention, here again is your roving cub reporter writing this nonsense at 2:00 CST instead of sleeping. As much as Fred H. would like to keep the Cheryl thread alive, I think that it is time to let it die. Cheryl is not here so she can't defend herself and I refuse to pick on someone who is too good to come to Chi town for a great time. ;-) (Oh yeah sure, federal cutbacks right?) OK, now on to the serious stuff. First I will probably take heat for my comments on New Era. Oh well its my opinion so take it for what its worth. Now on to the important news ...... Tonight there were several parties sponsored by vendors. Since I enjoy drinking on the high seas, I chose the Sun Booze Cruz. I thought I had a chance at the neat leather jackets, but I didn't bribe the right people :^( Well anyways, I did manage to get some responses from those who took the Booze cruz route. BOOZE CRUISE: Jeff W. : "Heck, we're already a Sun shop, but we had a GREAT time anyways." Jeff A. : I chose the 'Booze Cruz' over the All Star Game. Al G. : Relaxing, but too many Informix Marketing people. [Yeah, they *DO* know how to sniff out a good party ;-] [Oops! I'm going straight to hell for that one] There was a contingent from the Netherlands who felt that Informix should release a New Era 2.5 instead of waiting to 3.0. From what I saw today, some of the *new* features have a distinct advanage and would make Informix more competitive. An unidentfied female marketing type from Informix said "Awsome" and "Bitchen" I guess you could tell she was from Menlo ;-) A certain marketing rep from Sun said "Where's the bar?" I think that she was mad that it was beer and wine only. Personally, I thouhgt it was a lot of fun anyways. BMC / HP concert: The concert was really cool. In the crowd, there were some dedicated Chicago fans flicking their bics. After hours CDI party: Malcom has the quote of the day: Q: What's the difference between buffered and unbuffered logging? A: Paranoia. All in all, it was a great evening. Even this cold hearted Chicago resident enjoyed seeing the sunset against the sky line. So far, everyone is having a good time, and the datablade tutorial was ausome. Thank god that the tutorial proceedings are on CD Rom! Right? Again a re occuring topic of the CDI party was companies postings on the net. While we all tolerate job postings, it would be nice if some of the vendors would quit sending their postings every week! But then again, I think that all they do is post to this group, not read it. Otherwise I would be burnt to a crisp for my posts! So, my next goal is to get a press badge so I can crash some of the parties tomorrow night. To bad those IIUG guys invited me. I plan to bring a tape recorder so I can get some of their quotes on tape ;-) [NOT!] Many Kudos to Christine Shannon from Informix and her boss. They have done an outstanding job! All this from the free press of Uncle Mikey. BTW, anyone who is dumb enough to quote me deserves the bad karma they get! -Mikey
