Common sqlhosts file

Hi,
I have different applications and different environment for each
application.
Applications A1, A2, A3
Environment DEV, QA, PROD
Is it ok for me to have one sqlhost file that will have entries for each
combination. I am also looking at putting all the entries in the
/etc/services file. Would it be of any concern/worry if I put this
entries.
/etc/services file would have
A1_dev_tcp 3101
A1_qa_tcp 3102
A1_prod_tcp 3103
A2_dev_tcp 3201
A2_qa_tcp 3202
Similarly I am planning to have a common sqlhost file that would have
all the entries
A1_dev_tcp
A1_dev_shm onipcshm host1 a1_dev_shm
A1_dev_tcp ontlitcp host1 a1_dev_tcp
A1_qa_shm onipcshm host2 a1_dev_shm
A1_qa_tcp ontlitcp host2 a1_dev_tcp
Let me know if you need additional details.
Thanks,
Sunil Thakkar

Nothing wrong with any of that. It is essentially how things were designed to
be used.

That will work fine.
You could put more instances (=INFORMIXSERVER) on one host, if you need
or on different hosts (as you do host1, host2)
As long as the onconfig parameter SERVERNUM is unique for each
INFORMIXSERVER
