I compiled my form and used a >'uperform -s formname' in the menu to use the function. Uperform might conceivably be Uniplex Perform, but it is much more likely to have been a a custom version of Perform; it was not Perform as supplied by Informix -- that is known as sperform. >The user() would input the users name on an update so you could >track the use of the database. > >Well... this does not work in Ver. 6.0. I phoned tech support and >found out that I needed to do : 'sformbld formname' > 'cperf user.c -o myrunner' Yes, though it would seem logical to use: cperf -o uperform user.c >To make a short story long this did not work. It seems the C compiler >was not purchased with the new machine. I will get the compiler but >would like to know if there is a way to do this without the userfuncs >option. If you don't have a C compiler on your machine, you will be seriously handicapped. You need one. And that is pretty much independent of what software you are using, in my view. Since you were using a custom version of Perform on your old machine, you must have had a C compiler on the old machine. One of the irritating trends in modern versions of Unix is that the development system -- the key part of Unix in my view -- is no longer supplied by default. That is BAD! It is also wide-spread. Oh well... Come back Version 7; all is forgiven. Yours, Jonathan Leffler (johnl@informix.com) #include <disclaimer.h>
