HOTLINX LAUNCHES CLIENT/SERVER TRADE CENTER ON THE WEB db.HOTlinx features graphical descriptions and hot links for over 200 client/server products and services as well as industry news For Immediate Release Tuesday, January 23, 1996 Contact:Chris Evans Hotlinx, LLC. 919-783-9184, ext. 221 cevans@evans.org Raleigh, NC -- Hotlinx, LLC today introduced a trade center on the World Wide Web that will make it easier for client/server and database professionals to find information on the Internet. The site, db.HOTlinx, lets users browse hundreds of client/server products in an attractive graphical format that links them directly to the vendors' sites. db.HOTlinx also provides an up-to-date summary of relevant news stories linked to sources all over the web. There is no charge to use db.HOTlinx, and it can be reached at the address http://db.hotlinx.com. Like a traditional trade center, db.HOTlinx makes it easier for client/server buyers to find the products and information they are interested in by concentrating them at a single site. "Most client/server professionals are aware that the product information they need is available on the Internet," said Chris Evans, president of Hotlinx, "The trouble is sorting through all the useless links a typical web search tool will give you to find this information." db.HOTlinx addresses this problem by providing a way to browse information about client/server products and services on the web. Whenever possible, db.HOTlinx provides a hot link to the straight to the vendor's site from the product description, so users can find out more about the products. All products in db.HOTlinx are indexed by product name and vendor name, as well as by categories like Data Warehousing, Testing, and Application Development. In addition, users can select what category and platform they are interested in, paging forward and back through the products that meet their criteria. "We felt it was important to make the system easy to use by giving users a variety of ways to find what they are looking for," said Evans. All the product descriptions come directly from the manufacturers. Another major feature of db.HOTlinx is the What's News page. This section provides links to client/server-oriented news, articles, and columns from a wide range of on-line publications and sources. "Now, instead of jumping between a dozen sites every week to keep up with industry news and trends, client/server professionals can see a single table of contents that will link them to all the important stories of the week," said Evans. HOTLINX, LLC also publishes the Putting Client/Server to Work catalog series-the industry's most widely distributed guide to client/server software, with readership topping 170,000. Chris Evans, president of HOTLINX, LLC reports: "We had an overwhelming response from catalog readers to make our resources available on the Internet. Software professionals will now have a single site where they can find information from the most widely used products to the most unique. db.HOTlinx covers the entire spectrum of the client/server world." Hotlinx, LLC develops traditional and electronic marketing vehicles that present a variety of complementary products in a common market space. The Hotlinx publication Putting Client/Server to Work is distributed to 170,000 client/server buyers twice yearly and features products from market leaders like Powersoft, Intersolv, IBM, Computer Associates, and Platinum. The company's founder and president, Chris Evans, co-founded the E-Mail software company DaVinci Systems Corp., which was acquired by On Technology in 1994.
