Sql question

I have a doubt... I'm using a table with real data types...... While trying to access it via CGI, i need to truncate it so my users don't view a nasty 0.56767 E + 01 I want them to view a more understandable and usual thing like 5.49588 Is there a function I can include in my select query to do this? Should I create a special view?
